HILLARY CLINTON’S NEW YEAR MESSAGE

Hillary makes somewhat of a funny remark on Sri Lanka in her New Year wish:

Secretary of State, United States Hillary Clinton has sent her New Year wish to Sri Lanka yesterday. However her message from its contents looks a bit sarcastic. There she had mentioned that she wish that Sri Lanka would act accordingly so that the human rights of the people will be protected following the democracy, the country had achieved.
Her message shows that her words are very sarcastic because the message is sent after few weeks after the completion of the Geneva Human Rights Council meeting.
Her message is as follows:
"On behalf of President Obama and the people of the US, I am delighted to send best wishes to the people of Sri Lanka as you celebrate the Sinhala & Tamil New Year,"
“I believe that this festival will provide you the space and time to rebuild new relationships and to with it strengthen them.
“It also gives Sri Lankans of all backgrounds, living inside and outside the country, an opportunity to help build a prosperous, democratic nation defined by tolerance and respect for human rights.
“As a partner and friend of Sri Lanka for more than 150 years, the United States looks forward to supporting your efforts to foster national reconciliation and development, and to build even stronger ties between your people living in Sri Lanka and overseas.

Udayakantha’s photo degrades his reputation:

A recent photograph of the renowned film director, Udayakantha Warnasuriya was published on the internet in a certain web site with three beautiful girls within a swimming pool which became a crucial point and blow and integrity to his in his distinguished unblemished film career. That particular article had described him that he is a lecher by nature. This picture had been used against him to prove that point and bring disrepute to him by his rivals.
It is now reported by Udayakantha Warnasuriya himself that this has been done to create a bad image and tarnish his reputation.  In an interview regarding this photograph, Udayakantha had expressed his point of view as below:

Question: what is the story behind this photograph?
“Many would have seen the photograph on the net… some work of a loser… These things make us more popular… The original photograph is a one from the “Challengers” film. That is of Roshan Ranawana with three other novice actresses. I haven’t been like that. They have edited Roshan’s face and have duplicated mine instead. That had been done to embarrass me. I request not to do such low work. This brings a bad image upon our fields”

Koodankulam Nuclear power plant that is to be built in South India within another 45 days will bring bad effects to Sri Lanka with its radiation.

The nuclear power plant that was built in Koodankulam will be active within another 45 days. This is located 200 km away from Sri Lanka and in case if there will be leakage of radiation that can directly affect Sri Lanka. The best example is Fukushima and Chirbinol in Russia which affected thousand lives.
Even though there were many protests against this from South India, the Indian Government did not care about any of them and took steps to built the power plant taking funds from Russia. They started this in 1997 and it has taken 15 years for them to complete its work.
There are 19 power plants in India but the one in closest proximity to Sri Lanka is Koodankulam Nuclear power plant.
This was built following the international laws and thus they had an agreement with the Sri Lankan Government promising to assure its safety.  The agreement was passed as Dr. Ranjith Wijewardana the President of Sri Lanka Nuclear Power Authority in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs agreed to their terms after deciding that it would not harm Sri Lanka. In between India stated that Sri Lankan Cabinet Government had required to find out whether there is any possibility of making a Nuclear power plant in Sri Lanka to generate electricity. Thus it was necessary to give the approval for India to build their nuclear power plant without any objection. India stated that this power plant is built with the co-operation of many countries that have advanced technology and thus there is no risk at all. Four main radars to detect any threat from radiation have already been built in Sri Lanka. It is reported that any oncoming threat can be detected fast and the people could be warned immediately.
Yesterday (15th) India stated that they are going to experiment uranium in another 20 days and in another 45 days they are expecting to generate 1000 mega watts of electricity.
Public had made protests in South India against this nuclear plant based on 13 environmental facts. Going against the international laws, India hasn’t still been able to evacuate the people living around this place. At the same time there is a risk to the fish in the sea as the temperature of the sea water is bound to go up. Thus it will affect badly the fishing industry.
If the radiation that is emitted from the power plant is up to its standards, there is a risk of many diseases including cancer. It is also said that the equipment used are not that trustworthy.
They have also warned about the effects that can take place if another tsunami hits since Koodankulam was hit by Tsunami in 2004.
